RER Ticket Clarification

When traveling from CDG into the city center, I purchase an RER ticket (I think it is 8.10 euro or so). After completing my trip on the RER to the city center, do I use the SAME ticket to transfer to the metro to get to my final destination?

YES. Providing always that you do not leave the station. Simply transfer by %26quot;Correspondance%26quot; to the line you need.

Does this apply if transferring from one RER line to another (and travelling within the same zones on the new RER line?)

YES...you use the SAME ticket throughout BOTH the RER and METRO portions of your trip. At any CORRESPONDANSE stations along your route, you will need the RER ticket to insert into Exit turnstiles/gates of the RER portions of the Correspondance station, to enter into the METRO portion of the station...and may need the ticket again to exit the METRO station at the conclusion of your trip.

Yes, and Always keep your ticket with you.

You may run into a fare inspector and without a validated ticket, you will recieve a nice fine.

You know, I%26#39;ve never seen a ticket inspector in all my visits to Paris. However, I was in Nice last month and they were all over the place. They carry around a portable credit card machine so you can pay your fine instantly!

I can say with reasonable background RATP experience that I have been inspected twice a month in average on the Metro/RER system, and twice a year in average on buses

I never saw the inspectors for years, and then I encountered them a few times the last two years. Fortunately, the first time, I had absent-mindedly held on to my ticket.

My average is about once a week, maybe a bit more. I think you%26#39;re less likely to be asked for your ticket during rush hours, when it%26#39;s too busy to stop people.

Are there some metro stations that are inspected more than other?

One data point: My encounters have been in the Champs stations, especially Étoile.
