Weekend in Paris

I%26#39;m spending a long weekend in Paris this weekend and staying at the Hotel Lumen Paris Louvre and have a few questions:

1) Arriving by Eurostar, what%26#39;s the best way to get to my hotel?

2) Can you recommend a nice romantic restaurant to go to either near our hotel or a taxi ride away. Its for my birthday to something a little special

3) What is the weather like at the moment, I live in London and expect it to be much the same?

4)Can you recommend any places to eat breakfast near our hotel?

5) Is there any bars that you can recommend either near our hotel or not too far away from the hotel.

Many thanks

OK Your hotel is near the Louvre and the Palais Royale which is a lovely private garden and arcade with perhaps one of the best and most expensive restaurants in Paris, La Grand Vefour. I have not eaten there and I gather it is very refined food for the experienced palate. I would recommend Guy Savoy near the Arc de Triomphe as the most superb restaurant in Paris, but with wine it will cost a couple E500+ and must be booked in advance. It is a night of food theatre, about 3 hours, that will amaze you.

Can%26#39;t help with local breakfasts, your hotel is probably the best.

Check the guy savoy website www.guysavoy.com for other restaurants with which he is associated. Les Bouquinistes was lovely.

According to weather.com, the weather in Paris is 9 degrees celcius, sunny, 50% humidity, with very little wind.

I am not overly familiar with the metro, however from the map available here: www.ratp.info/orienter/f_plan_ang.php…

I would take the medium purple pink line from Garu Du Nord (Eurostar) metro to Chatelet and change onto the dark purple line to Pyramides. This is less than a block from your hotel.

You could take a cab, its approx 7 miles, but you will pay for the TIME in the cab, not the distance so if you are arriving in rush hour it will be expensive. Metro is easy enough and efficient.

I would recommend a search on the tripadvisor forum for ROMANTIC restaurants. You would be best to read through and to make your own choice - its your birthday!

In relation to bars/breakfast/restaurants etc in general, I would recommend downloading the Professors Guide to Paris which is on Stephen Solosky%26#39;s website here: travelingprofessor.com/Home/…Default.aspx

If you have an iphone, its easy to create a google maps with all the places you want to see/recommendations etc, and when you are there you have a good idea of places recommended, rather than just walking into any old place for your limited time. Even if you dont have an iphone it can be handy just to get a good feel of the area and where things are before you go.

Also, if there are any more questions, I suggest a search first :)
