Museum Passes

There are a number of companies that sell passes to Paris museums and sites nearby, such as Vaux-le-Vicomte. Does anyone have experience with, or opinions about, the various options?

I bought my 4-Day Museum Pass at a Visitor Information Booth in the Gare du Nord train station, along with my 5-day Metro Pass.....

This Visitor Information Booth was a LIFESAVER for me!!!!

Maybe wait until you get to Paris to buy your passes --- better yet, go to the Gare du Nord Metro stop, go upstairs, and you will see everything you need...........

Depends on what it is you want to see – what each pass covers and what the %26quot;full freight%26quot; admission would be.

We%26#39;ve always found the Paris Museum Pass to be great value – and for museums like d%26#39;Orsay which can have stupendously long queues, you get priority access. I don%26#39;t think it covers Château Vaux le Vicomte, though.

I think it is easier to buy your passes at the first museum you visit. If you make it a smaller museum like Musee Rodin, it will be easier. We bought ours at Invalides, had zero wait time and it worked wonderfully.

The PARIS MUSEUM PASS may be quickly, easily and relatively conveniently purchased once you arrive in Paris at %26#39;..official..%26#39; price. Pre-purchase offers of the PMP almost always add an additional price %26#39;premium%26#39; to the official price running anywhere from 25%-to-35% more....providing almost ZERO additional %26#39;..convenience..%26#39;.

There are a few reasons why the PMP is a good idea. The first is that you should at least %26#39;break even%26#39; or save a few €uro on individual admission fees. The second is that you should save some precious time, standing on ticket lines. The thirds is that you%26#39;ll be much more likely to indulge serendipity by %26#39;..dropping-in..%26#39; on places and attractions that you might otherwise walk-on-by, if you had to stop and think about admission fees and time spent standing on ticket lines to get in. You can simply %26#39;drop-in%26#39;, have a quick look %26#39;round, stay if you%26#39;re interested or leave if not. More %26#39;..personal favorites..%26#39; and %26#39;..hidden gems..%26#39; have been %26#39;..discovered..%26#39; by %26#39;drop-ins%26#39; than all others combined. And....last but not least, though I wouldn%26#39;t be inclined to recommend the PMP for this reason alone...the best public restrooms in Paris tend to be at museums....and there are museums located just about everywhere in Paris.

Great advice re using the Museum Pass for drop ins and restrooms. Am I correct in assuming that with a valid pass we can enter and re-enter the same Musuem several times over a multiple day visit? So for example, visit thew Louvre 2 or 3 times with a 6 day pass? It%26#39;s really a remarkable deal when you think of all you have access to for as little as €10 per day with the 6 day pass. Can%26#39;t wait. Leave for France November 10th!

The first museum you enter on the pass, they fill out the date and then you use it for six consecutive days. You can go to the same museum five times or one museum multiple times.

I agree with the recommendation to start at a less popular location to purchase the pass and then go from there. I usually buy mine at St. Chapelle. This site seems to be the %26quot;real%26quot; official museum pass site, rather than some company trying to sell a pass to visitors. It%26#39;s pretty comprehensive. parismuseumpass.com/en/musees_liste_nom.php

If you are planning on hitting a lot of museums, I suggest you capture the open days of the museums you want to see, so you don%26#39;t miss a favorite. Museums are open and closed different days and it can be a little challenging. I%26#39;ve also benefitted by going to some of the busier museums on their late night -- especially D%26#39;orsay, as you can have a nice meal there and enjoy the museum in relative peace.

Have a great time!

Okay, my first sentence didn%26#39;t make much sense...you can go to the same museum 5 times or multiple museums on the same day! Whew.

|||

Great advice KDK. I%26#39;ve been debating the museum pass on and off now and your comment about %26quot;dropping in%26quot; on places that I might otherwise dismiss convinced me that I should seriously consider buying the pass.

May I ask a question of you though KDK? I%26#39;ve been wanting to ask this for quite some time now... why do you put so many words in %26#39;quotes%26#39;? Is this suppose to suggest a certain tone, emphasis, etc.? But SO many of your words are in %26#39;quotes%26#39; that I really don%26#39;t know what to make of it...

MERCI.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;May I ask a question of you though KDK? I%26#39;ve been wanting to ask this for quite some time now... why do you put so many words in %26#39;quotes%26#39;? Is this suppose to suggest a certain tone, emphasis, etc.? But SO many of your words are in %26#39;quotes%26#39; that I really don%26#39;t know what to make of it...%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

Why did you bracket the word %26quot;..qoutes..%26quot; with single quotation marks ??

I do it simply because I%26#39;ve always thought of internet forums as a somewhat %26#39;..hybrid..%26#39; form of communication. While certainly not an oral means of communication, its %26#39;perception%26#39; by correspondents isn%26#39;t entirely textual either. Sometimes added %26#39;..EMPHASIS..%26#39; or other emphatic devices, to draw particular attention to particular points, helps. In addition to this, this particular forum doesn%26#39;t provide the opportunity to use more conventional textual devices, such as italics or underlining.

One scarcely gives a second thought these days to the use of emoticons, symbology, abbreviations frequently employed by internet users....or the frequent absence of most conventional punctuation or capitalization. It%26#39;s usually more productive to dwell on %26#39;..content..%26#39; rather than %26#39;..style..%26#39;.
