Does anyone have an opinion or experience regarding which would be the best place to return a Hertz rental car? From either of these locations we will be heading to the Latin Quarter.

You will find no shortage of opinions here.
However, there really is not sufficient background with which to draw a solid conclusion. A key point would be from where does he arrive at either Versailles or Orly and when. From what company was this car rented, there may be additional drop off options.
Either of these locations have relatively easy follow-on public transportation options into Paris.

I%26#39;d do Orly. It%26#39;s not difficult driving around there, and it%26#39;s extremely close to the city. Just hop in an RER and you%26#39;re in the latin quarter in no time.
