Where to watch the U.S. election returns ?

Hi,

I have been invited to a programme at at Ciné Aqua, near the Trocadéro, but the admission is 100€ per person! Does anyone have information on where there will be more affordable gatherings?

Thank you.

Not sure what your situation is, but CNN International will be providing live coverage beginning on the 4th, all through the night. The last polls close on Wednesday at 7 a.m. Paris time, I believe (Alaska polls). But it should be decided by then.

Also, I wonder if Harry%26#39;s Bar will be hosting an all-nighter? Or Joe Allen Restaurant?

I%26#39;m seriously considering watching from under the nearest rock.

No doubt you%26#39;ll find any number of sports bars and pubs in Paris that will have one of their TVs tuned to CNN for election coverage...but given the 6-to-9 hour time difference.....if its 8 PM on the US east coast when the polls close; it will 2 AM in Paris....if its 8 PM on the US west coast when the polls close; it will be 5 AM in Paris.

So why not just enjoy the evening in Paris, get a good nights sleep and build your energy for a loud cheer or good cry in the morning??

We have been watching all the political coverage on BBC World. I highly recommend them. There is no bias and no sensationalism, just basic reportage. IMO, the information is much more clearly presented by the BBC than it is by CNN.

I know the schools will be watching it. The American School in Paris has an overnight to watch returns.

I will just be a lazy american and watch tomorrow morning. Kind of sad as that is the first thing people ask me in cafes %26quot;who are you voting for?%26quot;

KDK is certainly correct on the times, and Flashby has the most sensible idea (after Sunshine%26#39;s), but a colleague agrees with Twinkie and insists on Harry%26#39;s Bar, claims it%26#39;s a tradition, so I guess we%26#39;ll try there for a bit.

This brings back fond memories of 2004 when I went to a %26quot;John Kerry Victory Party%26quot; here in town - the time difference was very useful that evening, as we were able to leave the party while the honoree still was in the race.
