RER schedule and cost

We need to take the RER from CDG to Gare Nord on a Sunday morning at about 8 am. Will we have trouble getting a train at that time?

Also, we will be staying 5 days at the Marriot near Euro Disney which is zone 6 for the RER or metro system. We will be going downtown at least 4 of those days. Is it worth it to get some kind of pass for the metro or just pay as we go? We should be able to walk where we need to once we are downtown.

The first train from CDG to Gare du Nord departs at 4:56 am on Sundays, so there%26#39;s no problem with 8am.

For the rest of your stay, you%26#39;ll definitely need a pass, since return trip Paris%26lt;-%26gt;Disney costs 12,90 !

On what days will you make those trips?

I believe that a Carte Orange (available from Monday to Sunday) will suit you.

Are you sure that your hotel is in zone 6? I%26#39;m asking because Disney is in zone 5.

The price for Carte Orange for zones 1-5 is 33,00 and for zones 1-6 is 37,20.

Notice that this pass will give you unlimited access to the transportation (metro,bus, RER) within Paris as well and you can even you it on your way back to CDG.

Why not go directly from CDG to Eurodisney if that is where you are staying?

Secondly, do you have to stay there, seems like a waste if you are planning on actually being in Paris 4 of 6 days, you%26#39;ve certainly built in alot of commuting? Why not stay in Paris and just go to EuroDisney twice ?

%26quot;we will be staying 5 days at the Marriot near Euro Disney which is zone 6 for the RER or metro system.%26quot;

Is that the one that Marriott call the %26quot;Village d%26#39;Ile de France%26quot;? [Shouldn%26#39;t that be %26quot;Village de l%26#39;Ile de France%26quot;?] If so, it seems to be about 2½ miles from the nearest RER stations. There is a bus service, but I guess the hotel would also provide transport. The RATP (Paris transport authority) website shows both the RER stations and the local bus services as being in Zone 5. CDG airport is also in Zone 5.

I agree with OhadB that a Zone 1-5 Carte Orange Hebdomadaire (i.e. weekly, which starts on a Monday) would be best.

If you want to go directly from the airport to the hotel by RER, take Line B from the airport to Châtelet-Les-Halles and change there for a Line A train for Marne-La-Vallée-Chessy.

|||

As noted...no problem getting RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne trains at Gare du Nord or RER %26#39;A-4%26#39; ligne trains from CHATELET-Les HALLES to the end-of-the-ligne at MARNE LA VALLÉE-CHESSY (DLP) on Sunday morning.

Simply walk to the end of your EUROSTAR arrival platform, TURN LEFT onto the main concourse of the station and walk straight ahead, until you bump into the entrance for the lower level RER and Metro portion of station.

There%26#39;s regional bus service from the MARNE LA VALLÉE-CHESSY staation to the Marriott property, located approx 4 km east of DLP

It%26#39;s good to know that the RER near that Marriot is in zone 5. We are staying there because someone obtained that lodging for us as a gift. They also rented a car for us. That is how we will get from the airport to the Marriot on Tuesday, when we arrive.

Is there any way to drive part way in, park the car somewhere and get on the metro system closer in?

Our stay at the Marriot is over on Sunday. That is when we are going to England for a couple of days. When we return we will stay near the airport for a couple of days. One day to go to Normandy and the next day to leave.

You could certainly drive part of the way from DLP to Paris, park your rental car at a lot and take public transportation the rest of the way. You%26#39;d save a couple of €uro on fares....but give it back again (and then some) on public parking fees. But is this is your preference, then driving to and parking near one of the interchanges of the Périférique (Paris %26#39;ring road%26#39;) would probably suit your purpose best.

If your method of travel to England from Paris is via air from CDG, then a spot out on the northern arc of the Périférique, convenient to either a RER or Metro station and a reasonably direct driving route to CDG....to either drop off your rental car at CDG...or use the public parking facilities at or near to CDG until your return.

If your mode of transportation is via EUROSTAR, then you could drive into Paris...leaving your rental car in one of the several public parking garages near to GARE du NORD until your return.

Can we get a Carte Orange from here? Can we get one in the CDG airport after we arrive? We will get there mid morning on a Tuesday.

If you mean, can you pre-purchase a CARTE ORANGE pass/DÉCOUVERTE device prior to arriving in France ??...NO....But you may purchase it at any manned ticket window, at any RER or METRO station in Paris or the greater Île de France region. At CDG, you would have to make your way to either of the two(2) RER train stations located within the airport. The CARTE ORANGE pass/DÉCOUVERT device will NOT be available at Tourist Information desks or at Roissybus stops at CDG.

REMEMBER that YOU must provide a small (approx. 1 1/4%26quot; x 1 1/4%26quot;) %26#39;head-shot%26#39; ID-photo at the time of purchase.
