We plan to spend our 25th wedding anniversary on a barge trip in France. Has anyone traveled on the Esperance barge in France. We are two couples celebrating our anniversary together, so just the 4 of us. The information I find on the web seems good, but I would like to get an opinion from someone who has recently hired the barge for a trip.

I just wanted to let someone know what an incredible experience this was! I couldn%26#39;t have asked for a more authentic and relaxing time in Provence. The Esperance had a real French feel to it, and was not touristy and worn down like some of the other barge trips I have been on.
One of the definite highlights of the trip was the food and wine. I can%26#39;t describe the feeling of eating gourmet cuisine while speaking to Mathias, the captain (with his adorable French accent) and drinking the local wine that very well could have been from the hillside vinyards we were passing!
We booked the barge through FranceCruises.com in the US who made sure that my trip ran as smoothly as possible, and took care of every mondane request we asked for.
I already signed up for their Canal du Midi cruise next spring...We can%26#39;t wait to return.
