young couple heading to paris: where is best to stay?

I am heading to paris soon, want to go out to the sights, but also good restaurants etc. is there an area that is best to stay in for transit etc?

i was there a while ago and can%26#39;t remember if the left bank is better for younger people...

The left bank is more %26quot;happening%26quot; for young people. I would recommend either the 5th or 6th for a hotel. There are plenty of restaurants and these areas are very near all the things you will want to do. From there, most everything is within walking distance, but there are numerous Metro stations, as well.

Have fun!!

I like the 5th and the 4th, both as close to the Seine as possible.

A very nice place to stay in Paris is the Marais, the 3rd and 4th arron. This is a nice web site for the Marais with links to hotels and restaurants.

The Metro makes it easy to get around regardless of where you stay. We like the Marais because of it%26#39;s old architecture, numerous restaurants and many things to see and do.

How long is a piece of string?

I can%26#39;t tell you what is the best area for you: I don%26#39;t know what your interests are. Buy or borrow a guide book and do your own research.

Sydneynick, I don%26#39;t understand why you%26#39;re so snippy...if you don%26#39;t like the question, don%26#39;t answer it. It looks like uphorea is new to the forum, let%26#39;s show a friendly face.

We all start out here a little at loose ends...I%26#39;m sure she%26#39;ll get the picture soon enough: The more specific the question, the better quality of answer, but let%26#39;s at least be nice about it.

Uphorea -- Welcome! I agree with the Marais suggestion. It%26#39;s safe, fun and very energetic. If you provide some more details like your budget...how much can you spend per night for hotel, restaurants, etc. your interest...people can provide more specific advice.

Some of my favorite restaurants are pain, vin fromage in the Marais near the pompidou center, Savannah on rue descartes in the latin quarter and chez omar for couscous not far from the picasso museum.

I%26#39;m well past the stage of night life, so if you%26#39;re looking for ideas for the evenings, I suggest you put out a specific call for that in a separate post.

Have a blast!

Uphorea !!

If we were a %26quot;young couple%26quot;, we would stay on the left bank. Very easy to get around. Very lively, a lot of fun.

Enjoy !!!
