Hi People,
Off to Paris this Thursday as part of my girls 30th birthday. The plan is so far:
Thursday - arrive in Paris 2pm, see some sites, chill.
Night - ?????
Friday day - Bit of sight seeing. Take her over the Pont Neuf to the gardens with the romantic waterfall, where I will be proposing.
Friday night - Off to the Alcazar for a spot of dinner and some dancing.
Saturday - Chill out, head home.
My question is, does anyone have a good recommendation for Thursday night, it g/f%26#39;s 30th so want somewhere fun. Also, is the Alcazar any good, my friend recommended it.
Thanks in advance

I can only suggest that you take her to a sublime French restaurant, 2 or 3 Michelin stars but I would do this before proposing and propose there. Or take her to your gardens, propose, then go to the restaurant. I would do the Alcazar on the first night.
Michelin guide as follows

If you can get in, Guy Savoy is divine.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply/
I tried to book the Alcazar for Thursday but it didnt give me option, not sure if you can book that night or just walk in and get a table there and then.
I%26#39;d love to do a to michelin star but i dont think my budget would stretch. The birthday, trip, ring, credit crunch has wiped me out!

I know someone who proposed in Parc Monceau. How romantic!!
I suggest you give a budget guideline for dinner...you might get better suggestions. I had a lovely experience at bistrot du sommelier. http://www.bistrotdusommelier.com/ They have three elvels of tasting menus -- 60 E, 75 E and 100 E -- they ask if your allergic or don%26#39;t eat anything and they build the menu and match the wines. It%26#39;s really lovely and festive.
Otherwise my other restaurant suggestions are likely too downmarket for such an occasion.
Not much help on the night life, although I%26#39;m sure a search of jazz clubs on the forum will come up with some great suggestions.
Have fun!

Did you mean Parc Buttes Chamont? There is no garden (per se) or waterfall at Pont Neuf. Either is romantic location for a proposal.
http://hungryforparis.squarespace.com/ is an excellent resource. all pricings and readers forum is loaded with questions and personal answers.

Don%26#39;t worry about going to a Michelin starred restaurant to propose, unless your gf is a real foodie that won%26#39;t impress her anymore then a romantic spot somewhere scenic.
Women( most) remember the thoughtful details , not the big price tag attached to a dinner!
I will warn you that at this date reservations would be almost impossible to get at a starred restuarant anyways,, many you must try weeks , if not a month or two inadvance.
If you are unable to make a resvervation online it is best to phone, most places will have someone who can handle some english . The websites always list the phone numbers.
Good luck!!

Great advice thanks guys. I think we will play it by ear, she isnt a fancy food lover, quite a down to earth lass.
One more question if i may (non food food related!)
Any idea what metro to get off when visiting Hotel Diana (Rue Saint-Jacques). From my limite dknowldege of the metro Id say its likely to be Metre Cluny-la-Sorbonne?? It looks closest on my map lol

Here%26#39;s what%26#39;s on their web site:
RER B or C, Saint Michel station or Cluny la Sorbonne station. Direct access from the Charles de Gaule (40 min) and Orly (30 min) airports.
Metro: line 4 (Saint Michel station) and line 10 (Cluny la Sorbonne station)
