Last 4 days in Provence

Thanks in part to the suggestions from this forum and Fodor%26#39;s we are just about done with our planning for our May trip to Provence.

1. Flying into Nice to an apartment on Rue Bonaparte in the Port for 8 nights. Planning on day trips with bus and train.

2. Picking up a car in Nice and driving to Villes Sur Auzon (another apartment) for a week where we plan on making forays into the Vaucluse.

3. Driving to St. Remy for another week stay in an apartment and planning on day trips in Bouche du Rhone and southern part of Luberon.

4. We fly out of Marseille early on Wednesday so we will be staying at the airport Tuesday night. So Saturday afternoon through Tuesday night to do what?

5. I am driving myself crazy trying to plan the perfect last few days and need some serious help!

Do we spend a couple of nights in Cassis with water view relaxing, spend a night or two in Aix, set out further afield to Carcassone? Please help.

I recommend Cassis, Carcassonne is much too far.

Hi cercis47,

Carcasonne to Marseille is 3 -4 hrs. Have you looked into Sete as well.

have Fun !!

Carcassone is too far and I would certainly pencil in Cassis.

I would be tempted just to leave it and see what places you especially liked and have a little time to revisit them or take in sights you might have missed because you found un planned things to do.

Boucheboy - am thinking the same thing. I am a compulsive planner however and wonder if we might have trouble finding accomodation at the last minute. this will be may 23-26. are we taking a chance? thanks.

You should not have a great deal of difficulty finding accommodations in May. However, for the best hotel selection, particularly in Cassis, I recommend you reserve at least several days in advance.

Cercis47 - I can fully sympathise with the planning, we are like that too.

I too agree with Sarastro in that you should not have a problem with finding somewhere to stay as it is early in the tourist season.

Have a great trip.
