location for young family

Hi-

I have narrowed my options to two apartments in Paris. One is located near St. Germain des Pres, in Saint Sulpice square, near the St. Sulpice metro station. The other is in Marais about a block away from Le Pompidou, near the Chatelet metro stop. It will be me, my husband, and our 2 year-old, so we%26#39;d like somewhere safe, near the sights, easily walkable to a metro that gets us places that we want to see straightaway, and (hopefully) somewhere that is really Paris - not too touristy. Does anyone have any recommendations as to which location might be best?
