is the 11th november a public holiday in france?

hello, i am going to paris on the 8th to the 11th nov, i have just noticed though whilst checking if they have a rememberance sunday like in uk, and think they have a bank/public holiday on the 11th on our day of departure, what does this mean in respect of shops/ restaurants being open that day. can anyone help with this. will everywhere be shut.

11 November, l%26#39;Armistice 1918, is a major public holiday in France. It will be the last day of a four day weekend (with Monday being %26quot;le pont%26quot;), so Paris will be missing many Parisians. Tourism will be working at full force and you will be able to eat and drink, but if you have anything special planned for Tuesday you should check to see if its business as usual.

have we picked the wrong weekend to be in paris then? will the metro be working ok and will places of interest be open. what about banks. thank you

Yes, all that will be working; normal Saturday, Sunday, Monday hours and service. Just on Tuesday if you have specific plans for a museum, shop, restaurant, etc. you should check to be sure they are open. Retail shops in most areas other than the Marais and St Michel area will probably be closed on Tuesday.

merci :)
