From Gare du Nord to musée du Louvre- walkable?

Sorry if this has come up in the recent past, but is this an easy walk - luggage will not be an issue.

If so, is it a pleasant walk, with plenty to see on the way?

I tried a walking link that had been posted on an earlier thread, without luck - my fault of course!:)

Thank you for any input.

Here%26#39;s the link to directions on Google maps. It says it is 3 km or about 37 minutes, so it would be a nice walk - not too difficult I would think.

I hope the link works!

Oops. The link didn%26#39;t work - sorry. Go onto Google, click on maps, select Paris, choose Get Directions. Type in from %26quot;Gare du Nord%26quot; to %26quot;Musee de Louvre%26quot; in the %26quot;from here to there%26quot; boxes. Select the walking directions rather than the driving directions. Hopefully that will work!

Thanks Pmmc, good idea.

I%26#39;m looking at a map on %26#39;Time Out%26#39; at the moment, and have looked at the google map, but can%26#39;t see anything like a park that would make for a pleasant stop, so might just the taxi rank!

Thanks for the help!

No need to spend money on a taxi! The Metro is much cheaper, and probably faster.

For the record, here are the walking directions:

Assuming that you%26#39;re in reasonably okay shape, without any physical mobility issues and you%26#39;re not traveling with %26#39;circus troupe%26#39; quantities of baggage....sure it%26#39;s walkable. As noted, the distance is approx. 2.7-to-3 km (depending on which walking route you follow). So, SURE (above qualifications considered)....you can probably do it....even rolling normal luggage in your wake.

You could just take the #39--GARE du NORD/ISSY-VAL de SEINE bus route (headin in the direction of Issy-Val de Seine, from its starting point at Gare du Nord (shouldn%26#39;t be a problem boarding with luggage and finding a seat at the beginning of the route) to it%26#39;s stop(s)at Place André Malroux/Comédie Français...or on Place du Carousel, directly between the Richelieu and Denon %26#39;wings%26#39; of the Louvre (toss a stone and break a panel in the glass %26#39;pyramid%26#39;)

#39--GARE du NORD/ISSY-VAL de SEINE

You could also take the #4 Metro ligne (heading in the direction of Porte d%26#39;Orléans) to CHATELET and then transfer over to the #1 Metro ligne for LOUVRE-RIVOLI, PALAIS ROYAL-MUSÉE du LOUVRE or TUILERIES Metro stations...OR...#7 Metro ligne to PONT NEUF, PALAIS ROYAL-MUSÉEdu LOUVRE or PYRAMIDES station.

Hi Ferdia,

Went to your profile. You take Great Pictires !!!

If the weather is good, and you are not in a rush, take a walk to the museum, along the river, meander a little thru the streets, take some pictures and post them here !!

Have a great hike !!
