travel from Charles de Gaulle to Novotel Paris La Defense

Hi could someone please advise me of the various travel options and approx costs of travel from the airport to Novotel Paris La Defense 2 Boulevard de Neuilly

There are 4 adults us travelling and we arrive in Charles de Gaulle @ 20:50 (self, wife daughter and nice) so I will unfortunatley be covering the total cost.

The Paris shuttle is 17.50 euros per person each way booked via easy jet. (140 euro return)

If we take the train %26amp; metro which train do we take and where do we change for the metro (how much approx would this cost)

Are there any other pre order taxis or shuttles that would be more cost effective etc and if so how do we book them - websites etc?

Any advice would be appreciated

NOVOTEL PARIS Ls DÉFENSE-- 2 bd Neuilly 92400 COURBEVOIE, Metro: Esplanade de La Défense Metro-- novotel.com/gb/…index.shtml

This hotel is in a bit of an %26#39;..awkward..%26#39; location for public transportation connections from CDG. The best public transportation connection would be to take the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne train from CDG to CHATELET-LES HALLES RER station, make a quick ligne change over to any of the RER %26#39;A%26#39; ligne trains heading in the general direction of La Défense...to the LA DÉFENSE-GRANDE ARCHE RER station....then switch over to the #1 Metro ligne (heading in the direction of Châtau de Vincennes) back to the ESPLANADE de LA DÉFENSE Metro station....or take a TAXI PARISIAN from the LA DÉFENSE-GRANDE ARCHE RER station, the short distance to your hotel.

This is probably the least %26#39;awkward%26#39; public transportation connection. RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne to CHATELET-LES HALLES then transfer directly to the #1 Metro ligne at CHATELET Metro portion of the station requires a looooong underground Correspondance though the sprawling Chatelet station %26#39;..complex..%26#39; (Les Halles Metro/Chatelet-Les Halles RER/Chatelet Metro). Though the above routing requires an addition train change en route....it%26#39;s worth is to avoid the Correspondance through Chatelet.

But frankly...a regular TAXI PARISIAN (there are mini-van type taxis readily available to carry a party of 4..official 2,70€ surcharge for the 4th passenger) will probably cost the same or only a bit more than a pre-arranged airport shuttel van service.

The cost for the RER route is 10.20€ each.

The La Défense area can sometimes be very difficult to move about as a pedestrian. If you decide on the RER, you might want to check on reaching the hotel after exiting the RER.

Taxis are always available curbside at CDG just outside of baggage claim.

Should you want to pre arrange for a shuttle, here are a few more to check, booking can usually be done on the internet:

Just returned and used InterShuttle service. They were prompt and reliable for 55E for three. Why would anyone want to drag luggage to find a train and figure out where you%26#39;re going after a long flight???It always amazes me how people pinch pennies on these things!

People quibble and agonize over all manner of expenses and %26#39;..economies..%26#39;. It%26#39;s not necessarily %26#39;pinching pennies%26#39; when the cost of public transportation is less than 9€ and the cost of taxi can run 50€-60€. Public transportation is also cost effective, efficient and reliable. Taxis do have a singular advantage though: they%26#39;re almost %26#39;..idiot-proof..%26#39; and require little intellignence or forethought to figure out and use. Public transportation does require some intelligent forethought.

I%26#39;m not an advocate of %26#39;..wasteful thrift..%26#39; so the approx. 25€-40€ (50€-80€ for a round-trip...not exactly %26#39;chump change%26#39;) that a couple can save on airport transfer(s)....can go quite nicely toward a better restaurant, a better bottle of wine with lunch or dinner, extra desserts, some item that one might not ordinarily purchase, etc.

There is ONLY ONE(1) %26#39;..best way..%26#39; to make an airport transfer. That is to take the time and make the effort to discover what the various alternative aiport transfer methods are, how they work, what they cost...then fliter this information through one%26#39;s own individual situation and circumstance--personal preferences, priorities, special needs and budget....and then pick the one that suits these best. It%26#39;s pretty much THAT simple.

Thanks everyone for your tips - looks like one of the shuttle services will be the best option for us as the train/metro route looks a bit ackward.

Which prebook shuttle would you recommend.

Ps - Belfast to Paris is only a 2 hour flight and nornally with other cities I have visited you can transfer quite quicky and easily on public transport and taxis etc are not needed (unless you are unfit etc)

Next time in Paris I will book an hotel with easier local transport links

I am visiting Paris next week and we have just booked a private transfer with Inter Shuttle due to the positive reviews on this site.

Initial impression very good, received confirmation e-mail within one and a half hours of making the reservation. Will let you know what happens.

That%26#39;s true for PARIS as well. Paris has several, excellent, efficient, inexpensive modes of transfer between its surburban airports and center city. Part of your problem is that the hotel you selected, the Novotel Paris La Defense, is NOT located in Paris---but rather near the La Défense complex area---out in the near-western suburb of COURBEVOIE.

Even then, there are relatively convenient, inexpensive, public transportation transfer connections from Paris airports (via RER..approx 10.60€ per person) connections) between the airports (CDG, ORY) and this suburban location.

In future, if you are searching for Parisian hotels, it%26#39;s worth noting that addresses within the City of Paris have five(5) digit a postal codes beginning with, %26#39;..75 xxx..%26#39;...with the last two digits of the five(5) digit postal code, indicating the arrondissement/area with in Paris %26#39;75001%26#39; is the 1er-Louvre/Tuileries; %26#39;75003%26#39;--3eme-upper-Marais; %26#39;75006%26#39; 6eme--Saint Germain des Prés; etc.

As also noted above, the cost of a mini-van type TAXI PARISIAN, for four(4) adult passengers and normal baggage, from the regular Taxi ranks located just outside of all Paris airport Arrival terminals, to the Novotel Paris La Defense, COURBEVOIE, near La Défense complex, shouldn%26#39;t cost any more than most private airport shuttle services.
