Hello and thank you in advance,
I have my detax form from Galleries Layfayette. Can anyone tell me the steps for leaving France from CDG? Do I go through customs first and then the Detax area? Do all of my France purchases need to be examined or just the ones eligible for Detax? Anything else that I need to know about CDG, customs, or Detax?

hello, just dont dream...
the tax refund is no longer handle directly by customs. the french government has sold out duty refunds to a private company who will take a big chunk of the 19 odd % that you paid in TVA. therefore your refund will be a fraction of the amount of taxes you paid.
in other words %26quot; AN ORGANIZED RIP OFF%26quot;

I assume you are leaving France from CDG (you%26#39;re not really clear on how you will depart France).
1. Upon reaching the airport, proceed immediately to the detax window. Present your detax forms as well as the items you have purchased.
2. Once you have had your paper work reviewed and stamped, indrty all processed forms into the pre-addressed enveloped you have been provided.
3. Behind the Detax window you will find a mailbox where you can post the completed forms in the pre-addressed envelope.
After you have completed the detax process, proceed to your airlines check-in desk. Your refund will be applied to your credit card within several weeks.

My apologies, you were indeed clear that you are departing from CDG.
The previous poster is correct, you will probably not receive the complete refund. However you should receive a portion of the VAT making this process worth while.
Sometimes the Detax window has a lengthy line. Allow extra time at CDG for this process.
