Hello I have just joined and am wondering if anyone can answer a few questions for me. We have booked our first trip away with Keycamp to La Croix Du Vieux Pont Berny Riviere in June 2009 Staying in a 3 bed caravan home. Just wondering what it costs for kids (one at 14 and two at 13) to do the activites on site. Also my son has eating problems and only eats a very limited menu. Can anyone tell me if you can buy fishfingers and things like turkey jetters over there. He does however eat lots of bread so he wont starve. ha ha Any info on the camp site itself and surrounding areas will be great.
thanks

Hi Mustdiet
Well the French love their bread so there will always be plenty available. I can%26#39;t say I looked for Jetters but I do know there will be fish fingers as I remember seeing them in the off site Intermarche about 5 mins from the site. My advise is to use the Intermarche rather than the on site shop as much as you can because it will work out to be half the cost
Costs for your children will be the same as for little ones. The pool is free although there is a €1 charge for the lockers - you get this back though. I doubt they will be interested in the kids clubs as they are geared towards the younger children :). They might enjoy the fishing and permits are available from Chez Micheline just along from the site which you HAVE to try for a meal. There is English food on the menu as well as French, and it really is so cheap and tasty. Read what I said about this restaurant at the end of this thread tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g196562-i6743-k1…
This is the independent web site for La Croix http://www.la-croix-du-vieux-pont.com/ You can choose to read it in English.
You will find plenty of info in the main reception and can hire bikes for the half or full day. Print off the Keycamp cycle notes before you go as this is a great way to see some parts of the area. In the town there is a Tourist info shop (along the one way system to the end of the road at the restaurant and turn right and it is on your right). The lady who runs it is great and can tell you the best places to see whilst you%26#39;re there and she will point out the discount vouchers available.
If you want to know anything else, just shout

PS: If you want to know prices of things like the tennis courts you could email the site direct using the link above. You will usually get a reply within 24 hours

Thank you so much for you advice. The link if fantastic thankyou and I have emailed them to ask for prices for activities. I thought I read somewhere that you could buy some sort of pass for the activities for the kids as it worked out cheaper but cant remember where I saw this but if I find out I will post it on here in case anyone is interested. I will keep reading these pages now until we go to see if anyone else leaves a review here but must admit the ones I have read so far are very positive so we are looking forward to our first trip.
thanks again

Hi again :)
Yes, there is a pass you can buy - can%26#39;t help with prices I%26#39;m afraid as it wasn%26#39;t worth our while buying one when we were there. You can buy it in the little shop where the activities are. There are trampolines, table tennis etc.

Yes, you will thoroughly enjoy this site. I have been 3 times now and have not been disappointed in any way. It is a in a truly beautiful part of France and the people who run the site and those who live in the town are friendly and helpful

I like your P.S%26#39;s as they are most informative. lol It is sounding very positive and like I say I will post any prices for anyone else when they get back to me.

My family and I visited La Croix du Vieux Pont last year (July 2007), on our first holiday of this type. We went with Canvas Holidays. We were delighted on arrival with our choice of site.
Lots to do on this beautiful well kept site. The pool complex is free and has an outdoor pool and indoor one with a sliding glass roof, which is opened on warm sunny days.
Although not anglers ourselves, the fishing seems to be good here, indeed, some families came to fish.
Canoes and pedaloes can be hired on the main lake for a small charge.
There are also bouncy slides, trampolines and little cars that can be hired, again for a small fee.
A prepaid leisure card can be purchased, from the little kiosk near the main lake, which the children can then use to pay for activities through the holiday. The cards have a higher face value than the purchase price, for example a card costing 10 euros gives 12 euros worth of activities, one purchased for 20 euros gives 25 euros worth of activities.
There are a number of table tennis tables around the site, free if you take your own bats and balls.
My husband and son (age 11) spent several afternoons during our holiday doing archery. This was provided free of charge by the site, including all necessary equipment and tuition!

Lots to do in the surrounding area, obviously near to Paris and Disneyland Paris. The site runs coach trips to both several times a week if you don%26#39;t want to drive. Plenty of things much closer; the castle at Pierrefonds is stunning, the Armistice clearing near Compiegne is worth a visit.
As keycamp reveller said, the Intermarche in Vic Sur Aisne, just a couple of minutes from the site is ideal for stocking up on shopping or there is a larger hypermarket in Soissons which is about 15 minutes drive.
A vist to Chez Michelin is a must!! It is a small bar/tabac/restaurant, very rustic and quaint, but the welcome we received was warm and the food delicious. We visited twice during our stay, the reception staff on site telephone to book our first visit as the restaurant is small and as it gets busy booking is essential.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the information regarding payment for activities. It sounds like the pre payment card is worth it. (just hope mine dont loose it ha ha) After hearing so much about Chez Micheline I am making a point of putting that down for a definate visit. From all of the reviews I have read I am really looking forward to our visit.

Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone knows how much they charge to use your debit card at the ATM machines over there? Would you say this is the best way to pay for things. Do you think you need much cash or do most places take cards these days?
thanks for any help

oops meant to ask if you can use the debit card to pay for things and if they charge for this and also if they charge for cash withdrawals through an ATM machine. I am a bit dim at times and dont ask the right question in the right order ha ha ha
This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing blog that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. Riviere Frasers Property
