I will be arriving at Terminal 2E on AF5001 from Dublin and departing on AF332 to Boston. I have 1hr 15mins (provided arrival flight is on time) to make the connection. Will this be enough time to do it comfortably?
I am wondering if you have to go through security again eventhough you are a transferring passenger within the same terminal. Would appreciate advice or recounts of people%26#39;s experiences doing this.
Have never used this airport before and have read some nightmarish stories from people who were transferring from T2E to T2F.
Many Thanks
Ray

Hello Ray,
I have transferred from 2F to 2E and lived to tell the story. Unlike me, you had the wisdom to come here and ask for advice before departing into the nether world that is CDG.
Provided your flight arrives as scheduled, you should have enough time to transfer. I always look for connection times with more than an hour, and this one fits that criterion. On the other hand, I made my transfer with 2h40 and felt rather rushed. I guess it depends on the gate and the amount of time spent in customs.
Silly Ray, you can%26#39;t do ANYTHING in Charles-de-Gaulle %26quot;comfortably.%26quot; ;-)

Ray, I am in the same predictament coming from Boston to CDG and connecting to Rome with 1hr 5 mins. I am not sure whether I should chance the shuttle bus which avoids security and customs, because you stay airside, or chand the run for it through the airport which takes you through security and customs which can have long lines. So... it comes down to chancing long lines or a long wait for a slow shuttle. Still haven%26#39;t decided, but extremely anxious.

Thank you for replying to my post.
I%26#39;m really sorry I gave the impression in my posting that I was transferring from T2E to T2F but I%26#39;m not.
I arrive from Dublin into T2E at 12.00 noon and I also depart for Boston from T2E.at 1.15pm. I don%26#39;t know how big this area is, how many gates there are there, or how long it takes to get from gate to gate within that area.I am also concerned about the delay of having to go through security there.and wonder if I would have to. Would you have any advice?
Cheers
Ray

When your inbound Air France flight from Dublin arrives at CDG #2-E, ask a flight attendant or gate agent to point you to the %26#39;..CORRESPONDANCE-TRANSFER..%26#39; desk of the terminal. From here you will receive instructions/directions on passing from the security controlled spaces of #2-E Arrival, to the security controlled spaces of #2-E Departure for your outbound Air France flight to Bostom. Assuming that you%26#39;ve no inbound flight delays, with 75 minutes of lead-time, you should have no difficulty making the intra-terminal transition from Arrival to Departure areas of the #2-E terminal building.

Thank you so much for that reassurance.
Would you happen to know whether or not Air France would allow you to travel on another flight were it a case of missing the connecting flight due to a late arrival? Both of my flights are AF flights.I%26#39;m booking them online so this kind of info is not readily available.
Dublin is notorius for delays and late departures not to mention when the weather intervenes.
Thank you
Ray

If you%26#39;re on an all-Air France flight itinerary they should book you onto a later connecting AF (or %26#39;Sky Team%26#39; partner airline) outbound flight if your inbound flight is delayed. BUT...I%26#39;m not sure that this is a %26#39;lock%26#39; if you booked the two flight segments separately...as opposed to a single, connecting flight itinerary.
In any event...anyone who believes that just because you%26#39;re flying one airline...that that airline is going to bend over backwards to accommodate its passengers for its faults...probably believes in the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. This is the cold, harsh %26#39;real world%26#39;...where no everything goes according to your plans and expectations. What %26#39;..should..%26#39; happen...and what actually does happen are often two distintly, different things.
CDG may have it%26#39;s problems....but getting from the Arrival portion to the Departure portion of the same terminal building, within 75 minutes, shouldn%26#39;t be one of %26#39;em.

%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;I gave the impression in my posting that I was transferring from T2E to T2F but I%26#39;m not%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;
RMCP9,
I have two important questions:
1. Do you have 2 individual tickets, one for CDG and one for BOS, each purchased separately?
2. Are you checking luggage?

%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;I am not sure whether I should chance the shuttle bus which avoids security and customs,%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;
Barb,
I do not like to see people have disappointing experiences unnecessarily at CDG.
Your assertion that you will arrive at terminal 2E, connect to terminal 2F avoiding security is NOT supported by any statement on the Air France website.
Quite to the contrary. If you%26#39;ll take the time to read the connection instructions available, you%26#39;ll see: %26quot;Turn left and go through the security check%26quot; is one of the mandatory steps.
Air France has taken the time to clearly explain the steps required:

Please review the on line instructions, noting the shuttle distance from terminal E gates 21-47 to terminal F. You could easily arrive at one of these gates. You could walk/run across terminal 2 directly to 2F but you will still need to pass through security. Making a 1+15 connection time is a near impossibility unless you arrive early.
However, there are probably numerous, same-day following on flights you can make to complete your travel to Rome. Unfortunately, travelers who miss flights going to North America will probably be required to wait until the following day.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Dublin is notorius for delays and late departures not to mention when the weather intervenes%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;
And I%26#39;ll add this question. If you KNOW Dublin%26#39;s airport to be notorious for weather delays, and late arrivals, why would you %26#39;..roll-the-dice..%26#39; with your connecting flight itinerary?? 75 minutes is certainly long enough to make an intra-terminal transfer....but ***NOT*** if you flight is 60-75 minutes LATE because of weather delays at Dublin.

Sarastro,
In answer to your questions.......
1. I will have one ticket, Dublin to Boston
via CDG Paris
2. Baggage will be checked right through to
Boston.
Hopefully this would minimise delays
Ray
