Could you please help me decide between these two apartments

This will be for 2 adults 2 children (8 and 14) at the end of July or beginning of Aug next year (btw, which time period is better ?). I narrowed down to these two %26quot;vacation in Paris%26quot; apartments due to AC:

1) ID#145 - Jewel In Paris One Bedroom

14 rue Lyonnais

www.vacationinparis.com/apts/id_145.htm

2) ID#155 - Rue Cler Delight

32 rue Chevert

I thought #1 looks a lot nicer (a little bit more $), just not sure about location in terms of metro stop and the surrounding area, especially for kids. Please help me decide.

Thanks.

It%26#39;s difficult for someone to make a choice for YOU, especially between these two similar apts. BUT MY CHOICE FOR ME would be #2 in the 7th. I prefer this area to the south 5th arr. I also think children would like the open spaces near rue Chevert: Les Invalides and Champ du Mars. And don%26#39;t forget the Tour Eiffel and Rue Cler.

I prefer apt 1, especially as there%26#39;s a private garden and you plan to be there in July/Aug. Nice to be able to sit outdoors for b/fdast, dinner etc.

You have metro stop Les Goblins or Censier-Daubenton, both Line 7 nearby. If you check

www.ratp.fr

you will see Line 7 will take you to some major destinations you might want to visit.

200 m away you have a Monoprix and 400 M at Franprix so shops and supermarkets nearby.

The Natural History Museum is not a million miles away in the Jardin des Plantes.

In August many Parisians depart for their holidays so some restaurants %26amp; family owned businesses may be closed. Other than that I don%26#39;t think it makes much difference to visitors.

I suppose only you can decide. For your children they will be either out with you or in the apt so I would go with the apt that suits you best.

I also vote for #1. I like that part of Paris and the transportation options are good. It%26#39;s a more authentic Parisian neighborhood.

Re option #2, I%26#39;m not fond of that part of the 7th. I think it%26#39;s kind of boring.

No contest for me,, the first one wins hands down,, hello, its bigger( 450 sp meters versus 325 sp meters) !!! And has a garden, and is in a better area!

|||

Also so note, # 1 is on ground floor, #2 is on third floor, no elevator,, happy days climbing 6 flghts of stairs everyday after walking around all day,, and carrying up the luggage and groceries,, ,, hmm , not so fun..

Thank you all. I chose the first one #145. I%26#39;ve never explored this area on my previous trip and thought the 7th was pretty nice (compared to the 13th where I stayed). Thanks you for helping me make this decision. Just hope the availability is there, as I had to switch my date a bit.

I%26#39;m going to have a lot more questions for our 2 weeks Paris and Swiss Alps (Murren in Bernese Oberland) trip.

alttravel - I%26#39;m staying at your choice next month and will post a review on the forum when I get back. We picked it for many of the reasons others listed here, it%26#39;s supposed to be a very authentic neighbourhood, with the Rue Mouffetard market not far, it%26#39;s about a 14 minute walk from the Port Royal RER which is on the RER-B Line so easy access to CDG, the little garden and the fact it%26#39;s on the first floor. According to Google Maps, it%26#39;s a 32 minute walk to Notre Dame, and is a 6 minute walk from the nearest subway.

New twist: Our changed date opened another possibility, which was our first choice.

ID125- Saint Honoré - Louvre

Searching the forum I found that it is directly above a restaurant but VIP said it never has noise problem. The location is much closer to center. Will there be food market and family restaurant nearby ?

Thanks for input again (#125 vs #145). I know, both are excellent, and I should be content to be able to get either one.

We are staying in #125 next June. I read good things about it on two other travel websites, so am looking forward to it.

BTW, you choice #2 is about a block from the hotel we stayed at a year ago. The location is fine, but as someone already mentioned it is pretty quiet. But I loved how just heading a block away things livened up a lot. I would not hesitate about that at all.

We looked at staying here in June, but instead got a larger two-bedroom nearby. But we did eat at a cafe near #125 and I remember looking up at what must be the apartment (was across from the church). Good location, but the street is not quiet, Rue St. Honore is one of the busier streets on the Right Bank, but noise shouldn%26#39;t be a problem, and you%26#39;ll have lots of cafes, etc., nearby. You are just a hop from one end of the Louvre, too. Sometimes if you type in something like VIP #125 in the search box, threads on the apt. will come up. Have fun, we loved that area.
