We (my husband, my parents and our 3 young sons) are travelling to Paris from Australia. Our trip is to celebrate my 40th birthday so we would like somewhere special to stay. To give our son%26#39;s a sense of the real Paris we are looking for 3 to 4 star small boutique hotel decorated in traditional french style with a quad and triple room (boys are happy to share a double bed). We need an elevator for mum plus we would like airconditioning. Ideally we would like somewhere near a park so the boys can have a run. We won%26#39;t have a car so we would like something with easy access to the major tourist spots. We have considered apartments but for various reasons would prefer a hotel. Other than Hotel Brighton does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks

I have just booked Hotel Du Pantheon in the Latin Quarter for January and noticed that it had family rooms that may suit you. It is 3 star and very close to Luxembourg Gardens which will provide plenty of running about space.
We have stayed in the Latin Quarter many times and find it a great location - easy access to the tourist spots - Notre Dame, Musee D%26#39;orsay etc as well as having lots of affordable bistros and cafes to eat in. The hotel is in the heart of the Sorbonne - the UNi area and there are some lovely grand buildings about including the Pantheon which I imagine would look quite spectacular to your boys!
If you book and pay in full in advance via their own website below they have pretty good rates

I am really looking forward to staying there - is has great reviews on TA!

Hotel des grandes ecoles is lovely. It%26#39;s very traditional, 3-star in the latin quarter. Doesn%26#39;t have all the bells and whistles of a luxury hotel, e.g. room service, etc. I%26#39;ve stayed there with my mom and 2 daughters, so I know they can accommodate your group. The only thing I don%26#39;t know is if the Quad rooms are elevator accessible. I know they have accesible rooms, but am not sure any of them are the quads. This hotel also has a fairly unusual reservation policy in that you have to reserve on the 15th of the month four months (please see their site for specifics http://www.hotel-grandes-ecoles.com/) prior to your planned stay. If you follow that protocol you can usually get a room. I%26#39;d be very specific about your needs. But it%26#39;s really special and unique. The images on their web site (and I%26#39;m sure here on trip advisor) are very representative).
Have fun! and Happy Birthday

Family owned since 1924 Hotel Nepoleon half a block from both the Arc and Champs. The %26quot;feel of the 20%26#39;30%26#39;and 40%26#39;s. Review their web site for specifics.

Don%26#39;t know if you will need AC in December. Its cold outside. But can understand as my ow board heater (woman stuff) works really well and we love AC. The above suggestions are great so perhaps some of them will do.

If your budget permits, the four star Pavillon de la Reine is gorgeous and they have some suites with extra beds. I just stayed there at the end of my 50th birthday trip in September and loved it (we were in an apt for the first part of the trip).
It%26#39;s right off the Places des Vosges so you%26#39;ve got a great park right there.

Thanks very much everyone for your suggestions. We will have a look at them. We had looked at the Pavillion which is beautiful but we would need 3 rooms and the total price would be beyond our budget.

Hotel Des Grand Hommes is right beside Hotel du Pantheon ( owned by same people I beleive) and rooms are very traditional( small, but nicely decorated) and staff were so nice. Close to everything, just up the street and across is Luxembourg Park for kids. RER and metro stop close by, and you can walk to many places in Latin Quarter.
Hotel Paul Bernard is cheaper, rooms a bit bigger , and area is good. Staff nice. Not deluxe but had all services you need.
Airconditioning is not usually offered in winter, many hotels that have it still turn it off in winter, its not needed then and electricity is very expensive. I do make a point of always getting it in the summer though, as some hotels are near busy roads and leaving windows open is too noisey.
If you really want kids to experience the real Paris then don%26#39;t get too caught up on getting a fancy hotel,, the real Paris is old and a bit of cracking in the plaster is character,, as long as room is CLEAN and in good area.. LOL
Good luck.
PS Can you not get by with 2 rooms, a quad and a triple? That might help budget a bit.

We are travelling in September 09 which I think is reasonably hot. Although we come from a fairly hot part of Australia so I am not sure if it will be such a problem. We are looking for 1 quad and 1 triple room. Some hotels only have triple rooms in which case we would need 3 rooms which makes it quite alot more expensive and more difficult to get adjoining. Thanks for the suggestions.

Here is a selected list of hotels which offer family rooms, rated 3 and over on TA, a really great job made by a previous poster! Could be helpful to you:
