I will be traveling to Paris in December with my husband for just 4 days. I live in Los Angeles and am looking for real, authentic Paris life. Quiet strolls, delicious dinners, etc. What area do you recommend? I am told the following hotels are good: Hotel Bellechasse Saint Germain, Hôtel Des Académies Et Des Arts, Hotel Duo, Hotel Bel Ami, Hotel Sezz, Pershing Hall, Mama Shelter, Murano, L%26#39;Hotel. I don%26#39;t know how to narrow it down! (We are 30-something modernists, he%26#39;s an artist, I am a writer in fashion, escaping from the kids for a few days...) Help!

The runaway best district for you IMO is the 6th; more specifically, I%26#39;d stay in the area bounded by the Seine, Blvd St Germain, Rue Bonaparte, and Blvd St Michel. I was in the area for nine days and never tired of the strolls, meals, atmosphere, color and charm. My visit to Paris was more driven by a desire to get a feel for life in the city than to visit specific tourist destinations -- I get the idea that you have the same objective. The 6th is perfect for this, but it also has easy access to the tourist attractions. Enjoy.

Thanks for the recommendation. I%26#39;ll look into the hotels in the area then. Not sure where the hotels on my %26#39;list%26#39; are...

All addresses have a 5 digit postal ( or area) code. Your hotel addresses include this, it will start 750( Paris) and then the last two digits denote which area ( neighborhood) the hotel is in.
ie; 75006 , means it is in the 6th arrondissmont( also knows as the ST Germain arrondissmont).
Since you have the list you can easily see which arr. your hotels are in, ohterwise we would all have to look up each address ourselves.
I personally have not stayed at any of them, but have heard %26quot;L%26#39;Hotel %26quot; is well liked by those who like that style.
For areas I too like the 6th ( St Germain) , or the 4th or 5th , although serveral other areas are also very nice.
Have you read the hotel reviews on the site here, they are generally helpful if you look at the big picture.
Good luck.

Have you checked out the web sites of any of these hotels to see which seem the best %26#39;..fit..%26#39; with your own personal preferences, tastes, expectations...and BUDGET ?? . This would be a good place to start your selection process. It%26#39;s as simple as using any good internet search engine (Google, Yahoo, etc) to find direct links to the individual hotel web sites. All of your choices have their own web sites and are quick and simple to find.. While most have smart-chic/high-style design/decor; some may appeal to your sensibilites more than others. There are also significant variances in nightly rates and this may also influence your decision or narrow your choices
Of the hotels on your list, I%26#39;d tend to dismiss the Hôtel Le Bellchasse and Pershing Hall, on the basis of relative location to %26#39;..the rest of Paris..%26#39;...though both are relatively recent renovations/redecorations.Though I love the neighborhood, location and the hotel, I%26#39;d also be inclined to dismiss L%26#39;Hotel as not being nearly as smart-chic/high-style design as the rest of your list.
With what appears to be a personal preference in your list for smart-chic/high style, I%26#39;d recommend that you also add the La VILLA SAINT GERMAIN, ARTUS HÔTEL, FIVE HÔTEL, HÔTEL Le A, Le HÔTEL 123, FOUQUET%26#39;S BARRIÈRE HÔTEL, HÔTEL du PETIT MOULIN, HÔTEL de SERS and the grande dame of smart/chic in Paris (all the rest are %26#39;..nouveau chic..%26#39; by comparison) the HÔTEL COSTES, to your list of possible choices.
I%26#39;m a big fan of the neighborhoods of the upper-6eme--Saint Germain des Prés for intersting neighborhoods, conveniently located to a great many of the major sights and attractions of Paris, more than enough good restaurants and cafés to suit almost any taste, appetitie or budget...all within easy strolling walking distances.(L%26#39;Hôtel, Bel Ami, La Villa Saint Germain, Academies et des Arts, Artus)
But for your hotel inclinations, the 3eme--upper-Marais might suit better (Murano, du Petit Moulin, Duo)
