from belfast. anyone used either of these airlines to nice ? if so, who would you recommend and when do their summer schedules come out for summer 09 ?

From memory, Summer routes usually appear round Christmas time.
This year though, publication of schedules may well be delayed and published schedules modified. I would choose the airline which you believe to be the most financially secure :)
BMI was selling summer 08 seats to Nice from London at the beginning of this year and left many angry customers in the lurch when it decided to cancel the route altogether for %26quot;operational reasons%26quot;.

thanks sooz...aerlingus are advertising summer 09 on their site now, they mention places like barcelona and nice, but then if you try to book for nice, it wont show up on the list of destinations, can%26#39;t work that one out yet. but i%26#39;ll keep trying. i%26#39;m looking to book for the 30th june till the 18th july, so i%26#39;m hoping to get in early for cheap seats as there are 5 of us.

Just tried the AerLingus site and I can see what you do re next summer offers but Belfast to Nice direct comes up as an invalid destination at the moment.
There does seem to be the option to book Belfast-LHR-NCE , but that is a really long journey.
Can only suggest you call them or sit tight and wait

I have used Aer Lingus to fly to Nice on a regular basis had no problems would recommend them. Schedule for Summer up from Dublin To Nice but not Belfast.But if I were you I wouldwaita while they regularly do sales andyoucangetflightsa lot cheaper I flew to Nice in the summer 2 people only cost 174 euro you might find it cheaper to fly from Dublin changing sterling to euro.

Sorry just thought you could also try Ryanair they are advertising flights to Nice tax and service charges only. Might do a lot better there good luck

I thought it was just me. I wanted to book early too (also from Belfast) and am perplexed about Aer Lingus. Maybe they%26#39;ve removed that service.
Easyjets 08 summer timetable ends today so hopefully next years will be out soon. I%26#39;m very impatient about booking holidays so I don%26#39;t want to wait until next year, find its too expensive and then miss out on other options I could book now. I%26#39;ve also seen some good apartments I would like to book but can%26#39;t until the flights are confirmed.
I%26#39;m now thinking of just booking something else and then trying to fit in a short break to Nice in April or May.

Just an observation -
Easyjet are getting very cute on pricing, (especially since British Airways pulled out of Gatwick-Nice and gave them a monopoly). Their release to end of March 09 is cuts off at Saturday 28th March 09, so you can%26#39;t actually get that %26quot;last weekend%26quot; and they have loaded the prices on the preceding weekend something rotten.
They are coy about when they release next Summer season - after Christmas everyone says. Lets hope we see a result about oil falling from $145 dollars a barrel to $64, but don%26#39;t hold your breath. Credit-crunched Iceland-investor folk now need to go out Saturday at dawn and return Tuesday to see low-cost travel again.
Because they will let you book 340-odd days in advance, British Airways is still offering the best deal for critical dates in 09, like weekends around bank holidays.

I took the bull by the horns and rang Aer Lingus and was told they are not doing a Belfast-Nice flight next year although you can choose to fly from Dublin if you want. (The girl I spoke to didn%26#39;t seem 100% convincing though so it might be worth still keeping an eye out).
Looks like we have to wait for Easyjet then and with no competition on the Blefast route expect the prices to go up.
