car hire at CDG

i will be arriving at T/1 and hiring a car, any ideas how busy the hire desks are at this airport, giving that it will be around 9pm. never been to CDG before, what are the roads like in and around the airport ? is it really busy, and are french drivers as crazy as people say ? i will not be happy until i am out of the airport and on to the motorway.

Can%26#39;t say on how busy the rental outlets are likely to be but the roads are well signed. Be sure to study a map before you get in the car or

have a GPS pre programmed and you%26#39;re unlikely to have problems finding your way.

I prefer driving in France to North America any time. Are the French drivers crazy? No. But likely they think YOU are for driving on the wrong side of the road! LOL

I would not drive in Paris for all the money in the world. There are lots of roundabouts and they have unusual rules that they all seem to follow and I couldn%26#39;t figure out - ha.

The original poster appears to be renting a car and leaving Paris. I have no problem driving in Paris... it%26#39;s the parking that%26#39;s the problem!

And give me a roundabout over a red light intersection any day! LOL

yes, i am heading out of paris from the airport and going east country bound for about an hour.i have used google earth to see my route, and it%26#39;s pretty straightforeward, i hope. the worst thing is that i arrive in CDG at 8pm, get the car at whatever time, and may end up doing my journey in the dark !!!!! having said that, there may be less traffic on the roads by this time. regards, very anxious first time driver in france, in the dark ....oh no, somebody help me.
