transportation from CDG to Paris

I%26#39;m not widely familiar with the layout of Paris. Im hoping that someone could tell me of another option (besides a 50euro taxi)of getting to Paris from CDG. I will be staying at the Hotel D%26#39;Aubusson on Rue Dauphine. I have read about the air France shuttle but do not know which stop I should get off at.

Any help would be much appreciated

We took the Roissybus into Paris from CDG during our trip in September. It was 8.60 euro a person. We got off at the Opera Garnier and then just grabbed a taxi (10 euro) to our apartment in the Marais.

Here%26#39;s the website:

I recommend you take a taxi (or shuttle) if you have never been to Paris before (about 50€).

There is no bus service near your hotel.

You could take the RER B (8.40€) to St. Michel and walk the approximately 1200 feet to Hotel d%26#39;Aubusson. At the RER exits, there are maps of the surrounding area sufficient to orient yourself or you could print a map of the area here:

use 75006 as the %26quot;code postal%26quot; (or the hotel address)

Thanks very much...I%26#39;m thinking the RER looks like a great call if its that close to the hotel...worst case I cud hop in a taxi if I feel lost after exiting the RER. Thanks very much!!

My wife and I just did this last week. We bought a Paris Visite pass (Zone 1-6) because we were going to be riding the Metro a lot and intended to ride RER to Versailles.

We got off at Chatellet and switched to the Metro for a ride on #14 to Madeline. From there it was a 3 block walk to our hotel.

BUT here is the downside. The RER ride was fine and fast. But it has limited stops, and we needed to ride a metro to near our hotel. But from Chatelet you have to walk a long long way to the Metro line (all underground) and it is very crowded. The metro was simply packed solid and we had to crowd on with our suitcases. During that time my wife got her wallet lifted from her purse. By the time we got the hotel we felt kind of %26quot;beat up%26quot;.

So in retrospect I think I would have been better off springing for the 50 euros for a taxi. Considering you have just got off an all night transcontinental flight, are probably tired, and a taxi will deliver you right to the front of your hotel this might be the best money you spend in Paris.

Your situation is not quite as grim. The RER B Train will take you from CDG to Saint-Michel - Notre-Dame‎ station, where you will be a half mile walk to your hotel if you are up to that. Your only other option is a taxi from Saint-Michel (about 10 euros I would expect) as there is no metro station any closer to the hotel.

Hope this helps.

I have one minor correction to my post. The distance from from the RER station to your hotel is .6 kilometers (about 7 minutes). Not an unreasonable walk if your bag rolls.

Our personal preference for economy, efficiency and convenience has been to take the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne train from CDG as far as GARE du NORD,,,then come up to the main SNCF portion to the station (escalator service), and walk along the main concourse of the station (picking up whatever Transportation Pass we%26#39;ll be using at the station, copies of the free PARIS-GRAND PLAN--Lignes et Rues transportation system maps, a PARIS MUSEUM PASS at the Tourist WELCOME Info Desk, a copy of PARISCOPE magazine for what%26#39;s on/where and still another copy of one of the L%26#39;Indispensable compact streetmap books, etc along the way)....then taking a TAXI PARISIAN from the regular taxi rank on the far side of the station, to our hotel(s) in the upper-6eme-Saint Germain des Prés. The usual %26#39;route%26#39; that taxi drivers seem to take from Gare du Nord to this neighborhood, usally provides a mini-tour of Paris along the way--Garnier Opéra, %26#39;through%26#39; the arched %26#39;wings%26#39; of the Louvre, across the Seine at Pont du Carousel and then through Saint Germain to rue Dauphine.

The less costly taxi alternative for you would be to take the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne to the SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME RER station (ride the LAST CARS of the train from CDG) then come up to street-level at the HÔPIEL-HÔTEL DIEU--PARVIS du NOTRE DAME exits from the station (escalator service) and then take a TAXI PARISIAN from the nearby regular taxi stand, the short ride (within minimum fare range--5.70€) to the HÔTEL d%26#39;AUBUSSON at the intersection of rue Dauphine %26amp; rue Christine.

RESTAURANT Le CHRISTINE--1 rue Christine (at: rue des Grands Augustines), just round the corner and down the block is always a good choice--

That last piece of advice is valuable. What exit to use from a station. Come up the wrong one in some of these big stations and you can be quite a way from where you hoped to be. That is the great thing about the Paris Forum ... you can get all sorts of valuable information like this which will never appear in any guide book.

If I was walking, I would use the PETIT PONT exits (at: quai Saint Michel/quai de Montebello/rue du Petit Pont/Petit Pont) from the SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME station and then walk west (to the Left as one faces the Seine) along the Seine to Pont Neuf and rue Dauphine...them left down rue Dauphine to the d%26#39;Aubusson.

If I were taking a TAXI PARISIAN the final distance, then I%26#39;d come up at the HÔPITEL-HÔTEL DIEU--PARVIS du NOTRE DAME exit on Île de la Cité for the regular taxi stand nearby.
