Hi,
Sorry I hijacked my own post with this querstion but should have made a new topic...
Im going to Hotel Diana tomorrow (Rue Satin-Jacques) from Gare Du Nord. Id prefer to get the metro than a cab, is it as simple as getting on the metro at Gare du Nord going towards Saint Remy and getting off at Cluny La Sorbonne and walking down to the hotel?
Sorry, first time to Paris!

NO...YES...NOT EXACTLY.
There are two(2) separate but inter-connected and transferable train systems. The RER (surburban/regional/inter-city) system and the regular METRO (intra-city) system. The ones at CDG are part of the RER system--the RER %26#39;B-3%26#39; ligne, which runs into and through Paris and connect to the regular Parisian METRO system within Paris.
From CDG into central Paris you will use the RER %26#39;B-3%26#39; train ligne from one of the two(2) RER train stations located within CDG (any %26#39;b%26#39; ligne train with a four-letter %26#39;..K xxx..%26#39; (express--36 mins.) or %26#39;..P xxx..%26#39; (local--40 miins) designation....to the SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME station (fare: 8,40€). The SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME RER/SAINT MICHEL Metro station complex (with a connecting CORRESPONDANCE passageway through to the inter-connected CLUNY-LA SORBONNE Metro station) is large and spead out under several square acres of Parisian real estate.
The HÔTEL DIANA (2-star) is located at 73 rue Saint Jacques (btwn: rue du Sommerard %26amp; rues des Ecoles), 75005, Metro: Cluny-La Sorbonne %26amp; Saint Michel; RER: Saint Michel-Notre Dame-- http://www.hotel-diana-paris.com/ The simplest and most straightforward walking route to the HÔTEL DIANA from the SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME RER portion of the station %26#39;complex%26#39; is to come up to street level at the station Exits located at the intersection of QUAI SAINT MICHEL/QUAI de MONTEBELLO/RUE de PETIT PONT/PETIT PONT, then cross the street and walk STRAIGHT down rue de Petit Pont (which magically becomes rue Saint Jacques at Église Saint Sèverin....past the rear of Église Saint Séverin..across Blvd. Saint Germain) to the HÔTEL DIANE (400 meters)an your Left.

With apologies....evidently you will be arriving (via Eurostar??) at PARIS-Gare du Nord.......but the same basic direction applies.
But in addition to the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne to SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME station, you could also take the #4 Metro ligne (heading in the direction of Porte d%26#39;Orléans) from GARE du NORD to the SAINT MICHEL Metro station....then come up to street level at the station Exits on Place Saint Michel...walk straight down Blvd. Saint Michel (across Blvd. Saint Germain) to rue des Ecoles,...Turn Left onto rue des Ecoles to rue Saint Jacques....and the HÔTEL DIANA is just a couple of doors up rue Saint Jacques. This #4 Metro route adds perhaps 200 meters to the walk from the station. Trying to find the CORRESPONDANCE passageway through to CLUNY-LA SORBONNE Metro is still something that you should avoid immediately upon arrival.
To get to the entrances to the lower-level RER and METRO portions of the Gare du Nord station complex from your Eurostar train...simply walk to the end of your train%26#39;s arrival platform...turn Left onto the main concourse of the station...and walk straight ahead (50-75 meters) until you bump into the RER %26amp; Metro entrances.

I suggest you get hold of a Paris Metro map from www.ratp.fr. Click on the UK flag at top to get info in English, then follow the obvious links.
Or just look at the maps posted all over every Metro station.
