My wife and I will be in Paris late November. We are looking for restaurants for a couple of meals. We want good French food, but aren%26#39;t interested in fine dining or for that matter paying that much. I can%26#39;t stress enough that we are looking for a good value.
Here%26#39;s what we were looking for:
Lunch in the Left bank - We were looking at Le Petit Pontoise or Le Pre Verre.
Dinner near the Carnivalet - Chez Robert et Louise
Dinner on the Champs - Have no place here, need recomendation.
We%26#39;re not married to any of these restaurants, it%26#39;s just what we found so far, but I don%26#39;t know about prices at any of them.

First up, don%26#39;t even THINK of eating on the Champs d%26#39;Elysees. It may have been a romantic thoroughfare once, but these days it%26#39;s a straight tourist trap the whole length. The restaurants serve indifferent food at high prices, and the waiters are rude.
In late November, there will be no need to book (except at the really top places). Just wander around, off the main tourist routes, and look at the menus outside the restaurants. When you find one you like, go to.
Do not enter any restaurant that has pictures of its food on the menu, or someone standing outside trying to drag you in.

We would never go to Paris without dining here http://www.legrandcolbert.fr/ great atmosphere,sensational seafood and good value. Forget the Champs it is very much a tourist trap.

We love Le Pre Verre - and the 2 course prix fixe lunch menu is a bargain.
L%26#39;Ambassade d%26#39;Auvergne is also (in our view) good value for the hearty food of the Auvergne region.
Both have websites with menus and prices.
Itinéraires (5 rue de Pontoise in the 5th) does a 3 course prix fixe for about €35. Modern French.
Chez l’Jean Ami (27 rue Malar in the 7th) does a 3 course prix fixe for about €30. Specialises in the cuisine of the southwest.

Your picks are very good. I love le Pre Verre. Same with Chez Robert et Louise. Nice research!
As for the C-E, I would say if you want to eat somewhere completely Parisian (where Parisians actually still eat!) try Fouquet%26#39;s. It%26#39;s been there for an eternity, and it%26#39;s not cheap, but it%26#39;s a major institution. I%26#39;m certain they have an online menu you can look up.
|||
I have to echo Les%26#39; recommendation of Fouquet%26#39;s on the CE. It%26#39;s actually the only place on the CE that I%26#39;d eat, and then only once in a while. It really is a touristy place these days. Fouquet%26#39;s is a tiny bit pricey, but really not that bad. Really great people-watching too.

Around the corner from the Champs Elysees is a lovely restaurant called l%26#39;Appart, 9-11 rue du Colisee. The food is delicious and it is not terribly expensive (formule approximately 25-32E; A la Carte dinner 29-39E). I ate hear with another couple in October %26#39;07 and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. It got possitive reviews online which was why I chose it, and I was not disappointed.
You need advance reservations: 01 53 75 42 00
They do take credit cards.

I must vote for Fouquet%26#39;s on the Champs. It is on the corner at George V Avenue. Inside in the dining room to the right as you enter the front door are displayed photos of famous Parisian stars (reminded me of the Brown Derby %26quot;back when%26quot; in LA). Outside were names in plaques along the sidewalk leading up to the frnt door of famous people who have eaten there including Orson Wells. Oh yeah - the food was good - ha. The service was good and they were friendly.

hi would like to eat lunch at Chez Robert et Louise. is the restaurant opened for lunch on Saturday? is there any official website that I can surf? how much will it cost for the lunch menu? thanks.
|||
Cities Traveller. I think Robert et Louise is open for Saturday lunch. I think someone recently said it cost around 26E or 32E or somewhere in that range.
