Hi Everyone, First time post on Normandy forum. We will staying in Normandy for a week next July, not sure where yet but Calvados looks a great option, (this will be our first week in France, moving onto Quimper, Brittany for second). Id like to know if it%26#39;s reasonable to drive to Eurodisney Paris and return in a day?.Also we want to visit Paris but not by car, what is the train travel time ?
Many thanks

I stay in Normandy often and have made the drive to Disney. It takes about 3 hours one way. It is mostly highway driving and the traffic flows smoothly except on the ring road around Paris - that is usually about 45 min of stop and go traffic. It can be done as a day trip if the park is open late when you visit and you don%26#39;t mind late night driving. Alternatively, there are several highway hotels/motels close to Disney if you want to sleep there and make the drive in the morning. Depending on where you stay in Calvados, the train to Paris takes about 2 to 2.5 hrs. You may have to change trains in Caen or Trouville again depending on where you embark. If you need information about places to stay in Normandy let me know.

It depends where in Calvados you plan to stay - east or west. From here, where we live on the Calvados/Manche border it will take about 4 hours to get to Eurodisney. You also need to bear in mind that July is a busy month on the roads, especially around Paris. I know Americans don%26#39;t mind doing these kind of distances in a day but I notice that you are a fellow Brit and tend not to be used to making these kind of journies (would you what to Maidstone to Leeds, West Yorks and back in a day?) I can%26#39;t imagine any pleasure whatsoever in spending what could be anything between 6 to 8 hours travelling in one day to spend just a few hours in a resort at one of it%26#39;s busiest times when there is sure to be queuing involved. If you live in Kent I presume you may well be taking an eastern channel crossing and would suggest making your trip to Eurodisney before you proceed on to Normandy.
