We are a mid fifties couple from Australia planning to visit France for a week or two next June, as part of a longer trip. I have been to Nice (briefly) and loved it but apart from this - where do we start? I want a few days in Paris but as neither of us like the business/noise/rush factors of big cities too much I was wondering if there was a quieter area around Paris to stay - up to 1 or 2 hours travel on the train for day trips to Paris %26#39;central%26quot; would be fine. Then where? We both love scenery, history etc. ANY suggestions to get the ball rolling would be great!
