Charles de Gaulle-Villa Pantheon. Best mode of transport?

We will be arriving in Paris next Friday at approx 8pm. I beleive the hotel is on Rue Des Ecoles. Any detailed directions for the RER would be greatly appreciated, or should we use shuttle/taxi?

This could be one of maybe three metro stations:

1. Cardinal Lemoine

2. Maubert Mutualite

3. Cluny la Sorbonne

4. or possibly Odeon

From CDG proceed to the rail station at the lowest level of Terminal 2. If you need more precision, refer to:

www.easycdg.com

1. Take the RER B to Saint Michel/Notre Dame

2. Transfer at Saint Michel to M10:

3 a. direction Gare d%26#39;Austerlitz for Cardinal Lemoine, Maubert, or Cluny.

3 b. direction: Boulonge for Odeon.

Fare 8.40 euros

Time en route 50 minutes

Asking for %26quot;detailed directions%26quot; without providing the address or name of your destination I find very odd.

I did say we are staying in hotel Villa Pantheon on Rue Des ecoles. Sorry if its not enough infi, but its all I know. Just needed some help!

|||

I see, it%26#39;s a bit of a puzzle.

OK, you want Maubert, as described above. Hotel Villa Pantheon is about a 400 feet walk from the exit.

The %26quot;best mode of transportation%26quot; is taxi, no walking trying to find the hotel, no schlepping luggage. About 50 euros.

Hey Stoney...Thanks for asking this question. We are also staying at the Villa Pantheon and arriving on Friday.

If you are young and fit, and can lug your bags up and down staircases, use the RER and Metro. Otherwise get a taxi, or book a shuttle over the web.

http://www.paris-blue-airport-shuttle.fr/ is good.

It%26#39;s actually a very easy walk from the RER St. Michel stop to your hotel. When I stay in the area, I exit at the St. Germain exit, then walk down Blvd. St Germain, hang a right on Rue St. Jacques, then a left on Rue des Ecoles. It should take you less than 10 minutes and I find it much more pleasant than messing around with transferring to the metro for 1 or 2 stops.

Thanx for your help.

It all depends on your budget--and how much you%26#39;re carrying. I%26#39;ve always taken the metro. I think you can take the RER to luxembourg, take Bld st. michel to Rue des ecoles -- I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s a bad walk. I checked the hotel web site: http://www.villa-pantheon.com/EN/Access.html They say to take the st. Michel stop, but I think that means you walk all up hill or have to switch from RER to subway. I found walking a few extra blocks to be easier than trying to lug bags up several flights of stairs. My only complaint about the Paris Metro system is the number of stairs -- esp when you transfer.

Have a great time!

HÔTEL VILLA PANTHÉON---41 rue des Ecoles (btwn: rue des Carmes %26amp; rue Jean de Beauvais), 75005, Metro: Maubert-Mutualité--

http://www.villa-pantheon.com/

Franlky, I suspect that it wouldn%26#39;t take any longer or be any more complicated to simply walk the 600 meters to the hotel from the Left Bank exits from the SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME RER station....than it would to navigate your way through the large SAINT MICHEL Metro/SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME RER station %26#39;complex%26#39; from RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne to connect to the #10 Metro ligne to MAUBERT-MUTUALITÉ and then walk from there to the hotel.

The simplest and most straightforward walking route would be to come up from the SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME RER station at its Left Bank Exits at the intersection of QUAI SAINT MICHEL/QUAI de MONTEBELLO/RUE DU PETIT PONT/PETIT PONT. From this station Exit, cross the street (your back to the Seine) and walk down RUE du PETIT PONT (which magically becomes RUE SAINT JACQUES a bit farther on..walk past the rear of Église Saint Sèverin, across Blvd. Saint Germain) to RUE des ECOLES (450 meters), turn LEFT onto RUE des ECOLES and walk straight ahead until you bump into the VILLA PANTHÉON (150 meters). The hotel will be on the right-hand/south side of rue des Ecoles.

An alternative (especially if the local weather is foul) is to take the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne to SAINT MICHEL-NOTRE DAME (ride the LAST CARS of the %26#39;B%26#39; train from CDG) and come up to street level at the station exits on ÎLE de la CITÉ, at HÔTEL DIEU/PARVIS de NOTRE DAME. There is escalator service at this exit up to street level...and a regular TAXI rank nearby. Take a TAXI PARISIAN for the short ride across the Seine to the Villa Panthéon. The ride should be will within minimum taxi fare range (minimum taxi fare: 5,70€) and take a few minutes.
