2 1/2 Day Itinerary

Hi Folks,

I have decided on Hotel Britannique for our first trip to Paris. We will arrive from JFK on Saturday at about 12:00 noon and should be at hotel at 2pm. Then, have lunch(where?) and then--need help with rest of day. What should we do Sunday-- Paris Half day mini bus tour? How about Monday?. We want to see Louvre, Orsay, Rodin, Invalides, Notre Dame, Shoah Memorial, Marais, Eiffel Tower, Arc and Champs, etc

Thanks.

Lew

You just can%26#39;t see everything in 2 1/2 days. Do not put D%26#39;Orsay and Louvre on the same day. They are both wonderful and exhausting and doing both in one day is physically and emotionally draining.

So, one day you could do Notre Dame first thing. Then you could see Sainte Chapelle (if you want too--stained glass windows are gorgeous), Ile St. Louis to wander and have lunch. Then the Louvre, walk through the Tuilleries to Place de la Concorde, Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe where you can see all of Paris including the Eiffel Tower.

The other full day you could see the D%26#39;Orsay, Invalides, Eiffel Tower and whatever you want to see in the Marais District.

During the half day you could take one of the sightseeing busses or your could take a boat ride.

If you want to see museums you will need to check closing day. For instance Pompidou, L%26#39;Orangerie, Picasso and Louvre are closed Tuesdays, Musee D%26#39;Orsay, Rodin are closed Mondays. All have info on line. The Louvre closes at 6pm on the days you are there.

You could see the Champs E very briefly while visiting the Arc. The CE is tourist tat these days. Me, I would wander onto the Isle St Louis and eat Bertillion ice cream. The fruit flavours are particularly intense. The actual salon, which is a very French experience, is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. You can buy it elsewhere but soo great to go into the salon. Then walk down the main street on this pretty island. Great little French shops, choc shops, galleries etc.

The Shoah memorial is of course closed on Saturdays. They have guided tours in English on the second Sunday of the month. You could see the memorial to the deportation which is right on the point of Isle de la Cite directly behind Notre Dame. Notre Dame visits will be limited on Sundays by church services.

St Chapelle is open all days.

There is no way you can see all these places in this time. Best to make geographical groups of places for easy access, eg St Chapelle, Notre Dame, Deportation, Isle St Louis.

As to lunch, try this previous posting on restaurants
