Train to Nice and ferry to Corsica

We will be taking the train from Monaco to Nice and upon arrival in Nice, we need directions to the ferry that departs for Corsica. Is it far? Should we take a cab?

Thank you.

Hi Bob !!

The Nice rr station to the Nice port should be about 10-20 minutes by cab. If you have a lot of time in between I guess you could walk, but with luggage it could take longer. The port is in an attractive area, so if you get there early, a lot of cafe%26#39;s and restaurants are open.

Have a great time. Corsica is a very beautiful island.

The number 30 bus goes from the railway station to the port, but it%26#39;s probably easier to get a cab, as that will be able to get you closer to the jetty if you%26#39;ve got bags.

Forgot to say that actually, the Nice Riquier station is closer to the port than the main Nice Ville station. There are lots of buses that run from Riquier to the port, and I think there%26#39;s a cab rank, but as it%26#39;s not the main station, there may not be cabs waiting.

Taking a taxi from the station is the easiest option and has the advantage of reducing the amount of luggage lugging you need to do.

However if you are travelling very light you could get the TAM 100 bus from Monaco which stops at Nice port.

Its a very cheap option [one euro] but only if you don%26#39;t have bulky luggage as these buses are busy.[having said which people get on with some unusual and largish items -it depends a lot on the whim of the driver.

You could get also a bus from Nice Riquier train station to the port ligne d%26#39;azur number 7

or 30 [but this goes round the houses before getting to the port] this is alos the bus you could catch from the main station Gare Thiers.

Thank you all for the responses. The taxi sounds like the best option; but I will investigate the bus from Monaco. We are actually staying at the Marriott in Cap d%26#39;Ail perhaps the bus passes nearby.

We will be going to Corsica at the end of April 2009 (after April 24). Is there ferry service from Nice to Calvi at the time or can we only get a ferry to Bastia?

Thank you.

Yes, it does pass by. See the times at stops in Cap d%26#39;Ail and the Port here: www.lignedazur.com/horaires_ligne/index.asp…

You should be able to see all destinations from Nice on the corsicaferries web site.

There may be other companies as well.
