I am trying to decide where to spend our Christmas vacations with my husband. We are between Paris and Vienna. Is there anyone who has been to both cities (maybe at Xmas time also) and can help??
Thank you all

I think your choice should first of all be determined by how long you have to spend there.
Vienna is a lovely small city, but with all the elegance and richness of Paris. You can start to get a feel for it after 2-3 days and see some of the major sites in that time.
Unless you have a week to spend in Paris, it can be overwhelming in terms of places to go, things to do and diversions like Versailles, so it needs more planning. Otherwise, you may come away exhausted if you try to cram too much in, or be disappointed you didn%26#39;t get to see all you had hoped in the time available.
Some other considerations: - If you are flying in, Vienna airport is much closer to the city centre, so less time wasted there. If you appreciate Germanic standards of efficiency and cleanliness, horses, rich cakes and beer, go to Vienna. If you like Gallic joie-de-vivre, haut cuisine and wine, go to Paris. Both cities are reflections of their respective country%26#39;s cultures and my top two choices for European destinations, so you should have a good time, whichever you go for.

AllonsEU, thank you so much for your answer.
Since we are going for 5 days only we%26#39;ve decided to attend a group of a tourist office so as to see all the main attractions. As far as Paris is concerned besides the attractions of the main city it concludes Versailles and 1 day at Disney. Still thinking about it...
Thank you again
