Going to Paris in April - which arrondissement and hotel?

Hi,

My partner and I are going to Paris for 4 days in April of next year, and I%26#39;m looking for some advice on which arrondissement would be best to stay in.

Our only requirements are that we%26#39;d like to be close to a metro station, possibly within walking distance of some restaurants. We%26#39;re not too bothered about being right next to shops, as long as the area is %26quot;safe%26quot; to walk around in.

Budget-wise, a maximum of £150/€180 per night would be ideal (though less expensive if possible!). I%26#39;m more than happy with basic but clean accommodation, as we intend to be out as much as possible seeing Paris.

Hope someone can help, sorry if this description is a bit vague....

Hi Mitch !!

Try going to venere.com and / or booking.com, they will give you hotel listings and geograhical areas to search, and you will be able to find hotels in your price range near touristic spots and metros.

viamichelin.com is also very good.

You are going to have a great time.

Re district, I%26#39;d stay in the 6th, specifically in the area bounded by the Seine, Blvd St Germain, Rue Bonaparte, and Blvd St Michel. This is the nicest area of Paris IMO -- lots of narrow streets connecting the main boulevards, good restaurants/cafes, and plenty of the color and charm one associates with Paris. The Metro is easily accesssible and many of the major attractions are within walking distance. I stayed there for 9 days and always looked forward to returning %26quot;home%26quot; after my sightseeing.

Hi --

Safety is the last thing to worry about in Paris. I%26#39;ve been traveling there without my husband for years and have never had a problem of any sort no matter what the hour and no matter whether on the bus, the RER, the Metro, or on foot.

It always helps to get a good guide book to discover the various neighbourhoods and which ones most interest you. Then, check out the search engines that have been suggested for hotels and their rates and locations.

The 6th, as already been said, and the 4th near the Seine and Ile St-Louis are great(very charming, safe, convenient...).

We love the Marais, the 3rd and 4th. Check out their web site, links to 3 star, 2 star and budget hotels and many restaurants. Look at the most recent newsletters for hotel specials. Some of the oldest and interesting architecture can be found in the Marais.

There are four hotels on the Ile St. Louis: Jeu de Paume, St. Louis, Lutece, and Deux Iles. Lutece and Deux Iles are owned by a M. Buffat who owns two other hotels, the Galileo in the 8th and the Henri IV Rive Gauche in the 5th.
