Hello all. My fiancee and I will be in Paris for 3 days/2 nights during our honeymoon in May. We will be flying into CDG and were wondering where would be a good location to stay. Since this is a VERY short stay, we%26#39;d like to take in a couple major sites and some nice dinners. Seeing as this is our honeymoon, I%26#39;d like to keep everything on the romantic theme. As for budget, I%26#39;d say we%26#39;re somewhere in the middle. Definetly not budget, but not $500 to $600 a night. Thanks all.

Hi, I would recommend a small boutique hotel on the left bank where I have stayed twice before, the duc de St Simon. It%26#39;s on a little side street just off St Germain, so it%26#39;s close to the Eiffel and Musee Rodin, super close to the d%26#39;Orsay (train station underneath takes you to Versailles), and across the river from the Louvre. Their wine cellar in the basement is charming for breakfast as well as having an incredible selection of vino. I got a room with a terrace, costs more but was SO relaxing after a day in the city come back and sit on the terrace enjoying a glass of wine!

Can%26#39;t help with hotel accommodation: we stay in apartments when in Paris. However, the Ile St Louis and Ile de la Cite (in the 4th) are my favourite places to stay – right in the middle of Paris.
When you talk about %26quot;some nice dinners,%26quot; if you%26#39;re after Michelin starred restaurants, we loved 3*** l%26#39;Astrance (an intimate place in the 16th with cutting edge cuisine), the (now) 2** Taillevent and the 1* La Table du Lancaster in the 8th. We thought Le Cinque (can%26#39;t remember how many stars) was over-priced. Too much the big hotel restaurant.
If you%26#39;re after more modestly priced places I would recommend:
-- La Table de Lauriston in the 16th
-- Mon Vieil Ami on the Ile St Louis (4th)
Le Pamphlet (in the 4th) used to be our favourite bistro in Paris – but on our last trip the bland makeover seemed to have seeped into the food.

I think both of the posters above have suggested excellent areas -- I%26#39;ve not stayed in the 4th district, but very much enjoyed strolling thru parts of it. St. Germain is great. I really think you%26#39;d be pleased with the area bounded by the Seine, Blvd St Germain, Blvd St Michel and Rue Bonaparte (in the 6th Distric) -- during my nine day stay in Paris, I spent many hours of many days just %26quot;enjoying the neighborhood%26quot;, often feeling no particular need to find a specific destination, but rather just enjoying the colors and charm of this most unique area. Paris and the Left Bank at its best IMO!

Thanks everyone for the comments. Now my fiancee and I have some options to think about. Such as apt vs hotel. I%26#39;m wondering what the benefits are to either one. I kind of like being able to order room service if the mood strikes us. And I may be wrong, but the price doesn%26#39;t really seem that much different. Thanks again.

One more area for consideration, The Marais on the right bank. Take a look at their web site with links to hotels and restaurants, some nice cultural tips as well.

It would be difficult to find an apartment for just 2 days. But, when you come back for a full week, and you will, it%26#39;s an excellent option.
There are four hotels on the Ile St. Louis: Jeu de Paume, St. Louis, Lutece, and Deux Iles. Lutece and Deux Iles are owned by a M. Buffat who owns two other hotels, the Galileo in the 8th and the Henri IV Rive Gauche in the 5th. It%26#39;s a great location on an island in the Seine just above Notre Dame.
