Has anyone ever visited Lille as a day trip from Paris? Any recommendations?? Thanks

Good morning

I would suggest to get a France rail pass before hand and enjoy the 1 hour each way trip to Lille.

Several trains are available daily. keep a weekday for your travel to enjoy most of the shops, restaurants and museums.

Not as a daytrip from Paris, but as a short weekend from London.

Lille Centre is a manageable size to walk round, has some very good shops, nice squares and cafes and several interesting buildings/museums. I don%26#39;t know when you are planning to go but it is very festive at Christmas, including a Christmas market and ferris wheel. A good art gallery (Lille was European city of culture several years ago). There are also two very good fish/seafood restaurants, %26#39;A l%26#39;huitriere%26#39; and %26#39;Ecume des Mers. It can be busy at weekends, especially near Christmas, but not as crowded as Paris

Sorry...never stopped in LILLE for more than a few minutes between London and Paris on the EUROSTAR train. But...because of the Eusostar cross-channel connection, Lille, like Calais, has become a shopping mecca.

There is frequent, daily, direct (no train changes en route) TGV train service between PARIS-Gare du NORD and the LILLE stations (Europe %26amp; Flandres). Train travel time is only one(1) hour and LILLE as a daytrip from Paris is simple and straightforward. For daily train schedules and fares, check--

But apart from shopping, I%26#39;m not sure that LILLE is a destination I%26#39;d choose for a day-trip from Paris....without some particular reason or interest

I wouldn%26#39;t dismiss Charles de Gaulle%26#39;s birthplace out of hand if you want to get out of Paris for a day. Far fewer tourists, Palais Rihour; Palais des Beaux Arts; Citadelle; Musee de l%26#39;hospice de la Comtesse are a few small, but charming gems.

It%26#39;s not about collecting the big sights, but ambling gently, and if the other restaurants don%26#39;t impress there are lots of %26#39; moules frites%26#39; and good beer as it is close to Belgium.
