11ème Arrondissement

hello,

i%26#39;m going to paris next january but have never stayed in 11ème before.

please would like to know about this arrondissement, like restaurants, bistros, cafes, unique shops...

merci!

|||

any help? expertise, please...

|||

11è arrondissement has extremely different areas: the Bastille district is a lively trendy neighborhood, with loads of bars and restaurants whereas Nation area is a more residential area, and Belleville is an ethnic neighborhood (at first a north african neighborhood and in the last ten years more and more Chinese have moved there)...just as example, not to mention busy Republique area that is also different

So you should give us your address to learn more...

|||

It is better to know a specific location...

here is a nice article about the 11th, though:

Thanks for the link, travelnutty, very interesting article!

Thank you both for reply and I will stay at Holiday Inn Republique - Place de la Republique.

|||

OK, place de la République itself is may be not the best area, but you will be close to:

- Canal Saint Martin in the 10th, a trendy area that is very nice for a stroll along the canal, shopping at Antoine et Lili, or a sunday morning brunch chez Prune,...Google it and you will find loads of ideas!

- Marché des Enfants Rouges, the oldest market in Paris (fine also for a quick bite) and the Haut Marais neighborhood : have a look at the trendy art galleries and shop around rue de Poitou

- Rue Oberkampf and its cafés such as famous Café Charbon. Here are a few other addresses:

If the weather is nice you can stroll down the Ave de la Republic to the Pere La chaise Cimetière. Also, you%26#39;re just a few blocks from the Bar du Clown, just next to the round landmark 1852 Cirque d%26#39;Hiver. It%26#39;s a great place for wine or dinner and resonably priced.

We always make at trip to the 11th for dinner at a neighbourhood bistro called Les Galopins - tel 01 47 00 45 35, it%26#39;s at 24 rue des Taillandiers, metro Bastille. No reservations taken, so we try to get there B4 8PM or there is a wait. It%26#39;s quite good and reasonalbe.

This resto has the same name and is in the 11th, but has a different address from the one you noted. Is it the same restaurant??
